Guest Article by Jennifer Leonard, Owner of Planet to People

My name is Jennifer. My husband Joshua and I moved to Carlton in March and are thrilled to be bringing Planet to People to the Keep it Local Mac community.

For the past 5 years we’ve been increasingly drawn to healthcare and earthcare on a scale that can make a difference. With MS’s in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Mind-Body Medicine and 15 years as an Acupuncturist, I saw the benefits of earth-friendly nutrition and lifestyle choices—and that too few people were making these critical connections. Josh’s experience in forestry, electronics, and permaculture gardening likewise led him to focus on the interconnectedness of nature and human actions. We felt called to a bigger role in nourishing the health of both the planet and people and to finding a way to help people discover the simple actions we can take to help the planet. Thus, Planet to People was born!

We have 2 essential parts to our business- an online learning platform and a homestead and retreat. Our online classes can be accessed by anyone, at any time to learn about how you can live a healthier, earth friendly lifestyle. Our homestead is a model home for planetary health where we invite people to stay overnight in our bed and breakfast suite. During your time with us, we share our love of delicious, healthy, locally sourced food while you relax and reconnect with nature.

We are also very proud to have been awarded the Benefit Corporation Status by Benefit Corporations for Good. What does this mean? It means we are committed to the 3 P’s: Planet, People & Profit. We are dedicated to protecting the planet, working toward equal opportunity with employees and using our profit to make a difference in the world.

We  are so happy to be here and are always looking for ways to collaborate with our community. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date on our classes and progress. Please don’t hesitate to reach out – we would love to show you around our homestead and share our little piece of nature with you.

We can’t wait to bring you along on this journey!
