First, let me tell you about the meaning behind the name Parthena. My great X 3 grandma was a seamstress in the earlier 1900’s. She would sew/tailor clothing for major department stores for a living. As a young child I remember watching her sew at her machine. My sister and I would stand at her sewing table, watching as she would whip up a new pair of pajama pants and button down top for us during our occasionally, weekend visits. I loved to be near her when she would sew. Not only do I recognize her for her craft, but I have always loved her name. Her name was Parthena Ellen. She never cared for her first name, so she went by Ellen all her life. But I always found it to be beautiful and unique. Therefore, I felt my shop needed to be named after her. For her inspiration and uniqueness.

I have been sewing on and off since my early teens, but it wasn’t until I became a parent, 10 years ago, I really got into sewing as a hobby. I wanted to create unique pieces for my children. To this day my 6-, 8-, and 11-year-old still request mama made items and I love it. Maybe someday they will be interested to learn the craft of sewing and I will be more than happy to teach them. As for now, I hope that my customers love my handmade one-of-a-kind pieces as much as I do. I created this shop to share with others my creations of children and Infant clothing because I love my hobby.
