ABOUT THE AUTHOR— JAMIE AKERS

I am a North East Oregon native.  I grew up exploring and playing in the mountains surrounding my home.  I grew up on food from our garden, foraging for huckleberries and mushrooms  and preserving food for the winter.

I have a Bachelors degree from Eastern Oregon University and speak fluent Portuguese.  I lived in Brazil in my early 20’s and enjoy learning about other cultures and food.  We have hosted 3 exchange students in the last 5 years and now have 3 “international children” we love to visit.

My son attends Western Oregon University and majors in music composition and my daughter is a freshman at U of O and studying elementary education.  My husband Aaron is a plumber by day and painter by night.  He discovered his love of landscape painting during the pandemic and now loves to teach others. My family has called McMinnville home for 10 years now.  I enjoy exploring our area of the state with my friends and go mountain biking, hiking and skiing as often as I can.

I have owned and operated Crepe World for 3 years and Local Flow for 1 year.
