Interview with Lisa Gilbertson and Phil Amaya,

owners of Wine de Roads
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
We are a brand new cycling wine tour company. We officially opened in May of this year.
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work?
We moved to the outskirts of Newberg 3 years ago and fell in love with the beauty of the area and the wine. We started biking to some of our favorite wineries and thought it would be a great way to show other people the area.
How did the business get started?
A lot of researching other cycling wine tours in the Napa area.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We are proud that we offer a “unique spin” on the wine tour experience. We feel that biking through a region allows a person to fully appreciate the beauty with all the senses.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
Making people smile by giving them an unforgettable day!
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Enthusiastic beginners to expert cyclists can all enjoy a day spent on a Wine de Roads tour. We are out to have an enjoyable time, not compete in the Tour de France. Anyone who enjoys being outdoors and drinking wine makes our perfect client!
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you’d like to mention?
We have set tours Friday, Saturdays and Sundays but can work with people to create private tours as well. We have had family reunion outings, bridal parties, etc
How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We hope more people find out about us so we continue to get busier and grow. We would like to add more tours of varying lengths and difficulties.
